Dear all,
After a long time I am going to blabber online. : ).
Not that I fiund some thing of great value which I want to blabber about. It is just that I dint have any thing else to do. It happens to all. Especially when one is over fifty, it happens all the time. It's all because no ones ther to hear you out but blogs dont object to balbering. so here I am.
I intend to share with you what is yoga? not that what is written by many people all over the world, It is just that what I know and not what I learned.
Before dwelling upon yoga we should talk about GURU. as everyone said Guru is a necessary evil to live with if some one wants to tread the path of yoga. without guru yoga is dangerous.
So now we are in this point of who is guru?
Guru a sanskrit word literally means the one who removes darkness.
In literal sense it translates to a statement that guru is one who gives you light in yourself.
Is that so?
In reality the light is always there in yourself only thing is it is not percevable by you, yet.
Then who is guru what is the need for him.
Before this we need to ask ourselves what is this inner light all about?
Is that light is same as what we refer as light in our everyday life?
It is not so.
No one is carrying around a light with in them self.
We should see what the light does before we pay our attention to the so called inner light.
Though there is lot of differing opinion on what light does including the ones involving radiation, photons etc., in abstract the light does help you perceive this world around you through one of your five organs namely eye. that is it.
what ever it is its purpose is only to let you perceive the world or universe around you with just one of the five tools you have which you call it as eye. the so called light does not help you perceive smell or touch or for that matter anything else.
So does it mean that guru is some one who has some thing to do with one and only organ of your complex body?
I dont think so and neither do you.
So what he really is?
Now come my explanation for Guru.
In reality every one of us has some internal mechanism not really connected to our physical body which helps us understand things in intelligent way.
It has no physical form.
but it is always there and guides you in your every day life involving the understanding of all the inputs you receive through the five senses.
In other words there is some thing which helps you perceive the world around you.
If you posses something which helps the happenings around you or in other words outside you the same thing should also be capable of helping you to understand the mechanism that keeps you as a human being or in an abstract way a living thing.
But there is a little hitch here.
When you pos this question to yourself.
" Then why I could not understand the inner me?"
The answer is simple it is for the same reason that you can never lift yourself .
The answer is you always need a external reference point about which only you can do any thing.
So To understand what is the inner self also you do need a external reference point and this is what we call as guru.
Now comes another question?
Then who can be my guru and that is immediately followed by another quick one, how do I find him.
First the one who can be your guru has to be the one who is in sync. with your inner guru. because it is so obvious that only when you are in sync. there could be a possibility of anything happening within yourself.
Now comes the second, How do I find him?
It is said popularly that you need not find guru but guru will find you.
But in today's scenario it is like a needle finding you in a haystack.
I specifically said needle finding you in the haystack because it is not entirely very difficult or impossible. In a way it is much easier for the needle to search for you rather that you searching for the needle !
so does it mean we should wait eternally till the needle finds us?
Not really.
we can make our efforts.
First we need some form which is sync with us.
Obviously this form is what we call god and the place to find this form is what we call as place of worship.
Then comes the question when so many forms around how can I find the right form?
How I did was,
I kept on visiting all those places of worship with an open mind. What is a open mind it is mind which neither believes nor disbelieves any thing that is said or written.
Just to go there and take a round.
If you have the urge strong enough you will surely touch upon a form which just makes you feel so tally different as you never ever felt so before in your life.
The feeling is inexpiable. there is no known feeling that can be compared with that.
It will be like it is just you know.
No reason no explanation.
Does it sound strange or impossible to feel like that?
Not really.
Do you remember the first time you felt fear?
You know there is this feeling but it is incomparable with any other feeling you know earlier and it has no name at that time, it can not be compared with any thing else you now so far and only after you felt that feeling you discussed with others and named is as fear.
I can keep bringing out lots of other feeling also in this manner like love, Hate, Ecstasy, hunger etc etc.
so we agree that there is a possibility of getting this special feeling so different from all other feelings you know thus far in life.
Till you get this feeling, you wont be making any real progress in the path of yoga no matter how many books you have gone through, how many more hours you practiced, or how many different feelings or changes you have faced after you started practicing.
Does it mean it is meaningless to practice?
Not really. If you practice (following any book or hearsay knowledge you have) it improves your chances of getting this special feeling earlier that it would normally takes.
Sounds like a fairy tale? not really so.
Have you ever realized that when you deeply long for some thing the chance of getting that some thing comes to you without your efforts? (your efforts starts only after the opportunity comes across your way)
